Dr. Manal Musallam Othman is the Director of Patient Education at Hamad Medical Corporation and a leading expert in diabetes education and chronic disease management in Qatar. She holds a PhD in Medical Science with a focus on Population Health from Qatar University, in addition to an MPH and BSN. Dr. Othman is also a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and Clinical Assistant Professor in Public Health at Qatar University, as well as Adjunct Professor of Health Science at the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST).
She played a pivotal role in developing Qatar’s first accredited diabetes education course and led the establishment of a master’s program in Diabetes Care and Applied Science. Her leadership includes co-chairing the National Patient Empowerment and Awareness Pillars of Qatar’s National Diabetes Strategy. Dr. Othman has significantly contributed to national and regional diabetes initiatives through curriculum development, public health campaigns, and the adoption of the DESMOND program in Qatar.
A prolific educator and advocate, she has authored educational materials in multiple formats and languages and regularly speaks on national TV and at international conferences. Her work is dedicated to transforming chronic disease care by empowering patients through structured self-management education.
